There, the knowledge of making glasss beads is something they are very proud of, and the bead masters dream that their secrets can be passed on to the next generation. Already during the Viking Age, we Northerners fell in love with the beautiful expression of glass beads, and it is a love we share with the rest of the world. The process we use today is almost identical to the one the Vikings used. Even though we in Scandinavia had not figured out how to make glass, thousands of intricate and often locally made glass beads can be found wherever the Vikings traveled. The glass and some finished beads were imported from the East.
