This cup is inspired by a small cup found at Birka, with the same round shape and an ear. A black-burnt small cup with an ear has also been found in Denmark. The cup is made of clay and burnt black by mil firing, just like the Vikings did their pottery. The black firing gives a somewhat fiery and very glossy black color, reminiscent of graphite.
